Congratulations to the two recipients of this year's RIAI Scott Tallon Walker Student Excellence Award 2024:

  • Kevin Barry from University College Dublin for their project 'The Department of Husbandry'
  • Rachel Murphy from Queen's University Belfast for their project 'Playful Minds - School as a Neighbourhood, Neighbourhood as a School'

The Award was presented to the two recipients by RIAI President Sean Mahon and RIAI CEO Kathryn Meghen, with Scott Tallon Walker Architects Director, St. John Handley, at the RIAI Conference on Wednesday 9th October.

Kevin and Rachel gave short presentations at the conference so attendees could hear about their impressive projects.

We are delighted to continue our support of this award in memory of our three founding partners - Dr Michael Scott, Dr Ronald Tallon, and Robin Walker. The Award encourages the study of contemporary architecture, architectural excellence, communication between the schools of architecture, and promotes awareness of architecture in society through exhibitions and publications supported by the RIAI. Congratulations also to Orlaith Cahill (University College Cork), Sophie Reid (University College Dublin), and Michaela Harte (University College Dublin), who were shortlisted for the Award.
