David Cahill is a Director of Scott Tallon Walker Architects. His particular areas of expertise include higher education and high-specification commercial projects.
He also leads the team designing a new teacher training facility at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth– our third significant building for the same university client in five years, demonstrating his ability to forge enduring working relationships. Davids recently completed projects include a 25,000sqm academic building accommodating Computer Science, Microelectronics, Pharmacology, Physiology and Cancer Research under one roof, including shared laboratory and teaching facilities.
David’s leadership of the team has delivered a project which our client regards as a flagship building for higher education. David has a long track record in the design of high specification office buildings for clients ranging from local authorities and statutory agencies to leading legal firms and speculative developers.
David has particular experience in the design of specialist façade systems as a core element of sustainable building design. His pioneering use of double-skin facades on several commercial office developments has latterly been translated into higher education projects, creating buildings which achieve substantial reductions in energy consumption. Post occupancy data from two of David’s recently completed academic buildings demonstrate energy savings of over 40% compared to the average university building.
