Cobh Urban Design Feasibility Study

Historically, the development of Cobh has been inextricably tied to its location and setting on Cork Harbour and by maritime activities. This evolving relationship continues to define the town. Cobh Town Council has commissioned a multi-disciplinary team led by Scott Tallon Walker Architects to prepare a sustainable urban development framework for the revitalisation of Cobh Town Centre, with particular focus on the Cobh waterfront and its potential to attract investment and support.

Urban Design & Planning

The study includes an analysis of unique particulars and character of area, as well as the larger historical, ecological and visual contexts, informing the team as to the constraints, opportunities and future potential of the Town Centre and the waterfront for leisure and economic activities.

In the process, the project addresses urban design, economic and movement issues, in consultation with other harbour users and stakeholders. The project also identifies potential locations for marina and water sport facilities, and proposes site-specific development strategies and principles.
