Maynooth University, Education Hub
The Education Hub is part of the masterplanned expansion of the NUI Maynooth “Broadwalk” on its North Campus. It forms a gateway opposite the Library and Resource Centre, also STW designed, and is the third recently completed building by STW on campus.
Architecture
The Education Hub brings together three University Departments, Continued Teaching and Learning, Adult Education and Education and unites these with the newly added Froebel Department of Education. The architecture explores the possibilities that the synergy of these departments can bring by using agile spaces to generate community, communal use, and flexibility for blended learning within a Higher Education Facility.
A triple height Atrium meeting space accesses the facilities which range from double height drama spaces to formal lecture theatres, teaching labs and a model creche environment. The new building has become the flagship for NUI Maynooth as leader in educating the educators of Ireland.
