The Rock Wing, Mater Misericordiae University Hospital Wins ‘Modular/ MMC Project of the Year’ at the Building Better Healthcare Awards

The Rock Wing, Mater Misericordiae University Hospital was awarded ‘Modular/ MMC Project of the Year’ at the Building Better Healthcare Awards in London on Wednesday, 6th November.

Director, Kevin Bates, Project Director, Paul Connolly, and Associate, Karl Burton, attended the ceremony, where the project was also shortlisted for the ‘International Project of the Year’ Award.

The Rock Wing was also awarded ‘Design Project of the Year’ at the Irish Construction Industry Awards, which took place in Dublin the following day on Thursday, 7th November. It is the second year in a row that Scott Tallon Walker Architects has received this award.

On the receipt of these two awards, Kevin Bates, Healthcare Director with STW, said: “Congratulations to all the design team, the contractors, and, especially, the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital Campus Development Office on the recognition of the Rock Wing at the BBH Awards and the ICI Awards. To deliver this project in two years and on budget was a remarkable achievement, and was testament to real collaboration between us all.”

STW Director Kevin Bates and Project Lead Justin Hynes were delighted to attend the unveiling of the new Scott Tallon Walker Architects designed National Isolation Unit at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin last Monday, 14th November, where Mater CEO Alan Sharp welcomed Minister Paschal Donohoe to inspect the facilities.

The Award was presented to the two recipients by RIAI President Sean Mahon and RIAI CEO Kathryn Meghen, with Scott Tallon Walker Architects Director, St. John Handley, at the RIAI Conference on Wednesday 9th October.
