RIAI Scott Tallon Walker Student Excellence Award

Scott Tallon Walker Architects are once again delighted to be associated with the RIAI in the launch of the “RIAI Scott Tallon Walker Student Excellence Award” (the former RIAI Travelling Scholarship student award) in memory of Scott Tallon Walker Architects’ three founding partners, Dr. Michael Scott, Dr. Ronald Tallon and Robin Walker.

The aim of the RIAI Scott Tallon Walker Student Excellence Award is to:

  1. Promote the study of contemporary architecture.
  2. Encourage and foster architectural excellence among the student body.
  3. Encourage and facilitate communication between the schools.
  4. Provide a basis for growing awareness of architecture in society through exhibitions and publications sponsored by RIAI.

STW Director Kevin Bates and Project Lead Justin Hynes were delighted to attend the unveiling of the new Scott Tallon Walker Architects designed National Isolation Unit at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin last Monday, 14th November, where Mater CEO Alan Sharp welcomed Minister Paschal Donohoe to inspect the facilities.

The Award was presented to the two recipients by RIAI President Sean Mahon and RIAI CEO Kathryn Meghen, with Scott Tallon Walker Architects Director, St. John Handley, at the RIAI Conference on Wednesday 9th October.

The project demonstrates how biodiversity can be leveraged to create a therapeutic and healing environment, one which benefits both service users and staff.
