The Irish Green Building Council’s report on the transposition of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) into Irish law

The Irish Green Building Council’s report on the transposition of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) into Irish law outlines recommendations for the Irish Government to aid successful implementation of Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) for non-residential buildings. Scott Tallon Walker Architects’ Sustainability Lead, Patrycja Kochaniuk, said of the Directive and Standards (page 4 of the Report): “The new EPBD and MEPS are pivotal in driving the renovation wave necessary to decarbonise Ireland’s building stock. When transposing the Directive into Irish law, it is crucial to ensure that MEPS deliver genuine carbon savings and do not lead to further dereliction or demolition.”

The Report is one of a series of guidance documents being developed by the IGBC to support this transposition and inform industry members of the requirements.

Collaboration across all built environment professionals will be critical to the successful adoption of the MEPs.
