The Awards were attended by STW's Kevin Bates, Director, and Paul Connolly, Project Director.
The bespoke design by Scott Tallon Walker Architects brought the capacity of TUH’s ICCU to 21 beds, keeping the existing hospital live despite complex tie-ins and adjacencies on multiple levels. While not part of the initial brief, STW developed the design to cater for highly infectious and bariatric patients, as well as carefully considering acoustics to ensure patient comfort. Break out spaces for staff and visitors were provided through a series of rooftop terraces which incorporated green roofs, providing visual therapeutic benefits from patient beds as well as benefitting the care of patients. Improved building fabric performance and a natural ventilation strategy significantly reduces energy required for heating.
