St Thomas More Catholic Upper School is one of the top performing schools in the Borough of Bedford. In order to enhance its specialty status for humanities subjects, the school commissioned Scott Tallon Walker Architects and Arambol Associates Project Managers to undertake the design and construction of a new activity centre.  

The construction of this new facility has enabled the school to transform one of its existing halls into a dedicated performance and assembly space incorporating state of the art lighting and staging equipment. The new hall accommodates sports and fitness activities as well as providing much needed exhibition and gathering space to enable the school also provide a venue to promote interfaith dialogue and facilities for after-hours community gatherings and meetings.  

The hall is clad in Siberian Larch timber rain-screen boarding and incorporates a number of energy efficient strategies including natural ventilation, under floor heating and careful attention to insulation and air tightness detailing.
