The Data Centre is a state of the art webhosting and collocation facility for Eircom, Ireland’s premier telecommunications provider.
The site, in Citywest Business Park in Dublin, was chosen for its strategic importance in the existing telecoms network, adjacent to the point of arrival in Europe of the Global Crossing link from the USA.
The three Data halls, providing 1350m2 of rack space, are fully air conditioned with a 3.5m clear ceiling height over a 900mm deep, fully accessible, raised floor. A gas suppression facility provides security in the event of fire.
The data centre is backed up by a comprehensive energy centre that houses UPS, chillers, LV and MV sub stations, and three 1.5 MVA generators in an N+1 configuration.
The facility includes a Network Control Centre that monitors the entire network, backup offices and conference suites.
Building security was carefully considered throughout the scheme, from the construction materials of the building, to the landscaping of the site. Access to the site and car park is monitored and controlled, while security within the facility is enhanced by a digital palm recognition access control system.
