Philip has a passion for urban design and large-scale masterplanning, based on the principle that understanding how people are likely to use places and cities is fundamental to maximising the quality of life for people and achieving good design in the most sustainable and efficient way.

This ethos, which permeates through his working processes, has been crucial to the development of many of our most major and sensitive projects from initial briefing stages to their successful delivery through the planning system, since Philip joined our firm in August 1998.

Philip enjoys working with and involving other people to explore all avenues and ideas, so as to find the most robust and effective outcome. Philip became an Associate Director in 2005 and established our in-house Urban Design and Planning Team.

Having previously worked in many different countries, Philip keeps fully up to date with international best practice through study visits and professional engagement. He is the RTPI Irish Branch 2009 Vice-Chair and Branch representative on the RTPI General Assembly. He represents the practice on the Urban Design Group and has recently been invited to join the Academy of Urbanism.
